Presentation

For my presentation I am doing a theses on how Montana 1948 and The Catcher in the Rye are similar.
For the first few minutes I am going to present the paper out loud to the class. Then I am going to do a Pod cast on how the theme is common in other books, as well. I would probably change that to a Power Point Slide though because I don’t have any Macs to save it on to. A Power Point Slide on the theme of lying. I wont just mention the two books I’m doing, but I will also mention other books that have the same theme as well. The slide show will be about 5-10 slides long and should be a good 5 minutes long. The first two slides will talk about Montana 1948 and Catcher In The Rye, while the other slides will talk about how lying is present in other books. I’m not sure what those books would be yet, but I have decided on a few and I still need a few more. And once that is done I’m going to ask the class some questions, thus completing my presentations.

Obama Wins Wyoming

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7284881.stm

Obama won Whyoming and is leading in the delegate total by a small margin against Hilary. This is a close race between the two, but I personaly dont like neather of them because I dont think neather of them are skilled enough to be great leaders of the United States, also I want Mccain to win.

New York Bike Bomber

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/03/08/times.square.bomb/index.html

On Thursday morning at 3:45 AM, a person in a black hooded shirt, riding a blue bicycle, threw an explosive trough the window of a recruting center in Times Square. There is a 12,000 reward for the capture of this indivisual. His picture was also captured on survallance on the streets. From what we know he/she is unlikely to be part of Alkida, but was trying to make a statement against the army, which is sad caouse what as the army do to him?

Crews digging out in Midwest as storm roars east

http://www.cnn.com/2008/US/weather/03/08/march.snowstorm.ap/index.html

According to this article there was record breaking snow fall all arount the Midwest. Columbas experianced record breaking snow. Even some parts in the Northeast, such as Maine and Maryland, are also exeperiencing heavy snow fall. This artical is giving me the Idea that global warming might not be as big of a deal as we were lead to belive. Also in these parts the snow ranges to more than 20 inches of snow in just one storm alone.

Just Beyond The Sunset by David Harris

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny
Where the purple mountains
Lie in deep tranquillity
There I’ll find the treasure
Of love eternally

Just beyond the sunset
Waits someone so fair
Just beyond the sunset
All alone they wait there
Their hair is golden
The colour of the sand
Their eyes sparkle in the night
Like diamonds in your hand

Just beyond the sunset
Lies a home for me
Where the world is peaceful
Like a paradise should be
Just beyond the sunset
Someday is where you’ll find me

Heh, its funny what the beauty of the sunset can make us feel, isnt it? You know, this may sound a bit weird, but I almost fetl the same way when it came to sunsets. I would always say that the sunset points to my destiny. I know it sounds weird and unusual, but its true! Besides, sunsets are so beautiful and everyone loves them, so who cares if it sounds weird! The poem is realy awsome too.

Dark Purple by Susan Drozda Cooper

Dark Purple

Under a blanket of dark purple
I do my best work.
Blue doesn’t do and Red goes
To my head.
Yellow’s too mellow and Black
just makes me dead.
Underneath my blanket, of mixed
Blue and Red sublime….
Is Purple, saintly Purple, I call
that color mine! ! !

Haha, yeah tis a poem about how the writer loves the color purple. And despite purple being my favorite color too, I also have a big dark purple blanket for my own bed aswell! I mean, talk about coinsidence! Heh, well, this poem is realy cute, I mean how can you not like the color purple? Its such a pretty color, which is why most of my room is purple too, but thats besides the point. The point is that the poem is cool and so is purple.

The Dark by Kathryn Thompson

The dark is here
I like the dark
The dark comes and goes
The dark is good
The dark is dark
Like I like it
When the dark is here
I am happy
The dark is here

Funny, this has to be one of the shortest poems ive seen yet. And still, it packs quite a punch! you see, ive been reading some poems in the Dark section and strangly to my surprise I found one poem in perticulare that I didn't find as 'emo' as the rest. In fact it seems to talk about how the writer enjoys the dark and is, obviously, not afraid of it. Though she doesn't say why she likes the dark, we all know it just makes her happy, which is just as good.

My City by Andy Cole

City, you are my City.
You are where i come from,
you gave me my family,
you gave me my life.

Manchester, you are my Manchester.
You are the city I love,
you are the city I live for,
you are my house and home.

City, you are my City.
You are my work,
you are my life,
you are my everything.

Oh, my God! this poem is so sweet! The writer s greatly described things perfectly. As I was reading this I was saying to myself "Oh, God thats sweet" of coarse some might say its not the most romantic or fluffy of poems because the writer is not using 'beauty' as a comparison. However,I think this just proves that you can use other things to describe love, even citys! And I dont think hes trying to be romantic because it sounds more like hes talking about a family member, perhapes the love he has for his mother or father, which I think is cute. Eather way, I still find this poem very nice and sweet.

Crazy by Stay out of my life

I made you crazy
I drove a man crazy
and yet I dont know how I made him crazy
it wasnt fair for him to be crazy
Im sorry for making you crazy
I wish I could take your place and I be crazy
tell me a way show me a way and make me crazy
my heart hurts cause I made my friend crazy
Please change I dont want you to be crazy
Someone help him, help him, he's crazy
take away his pain that made him crazy
I dont like how I made him crazy
I didnt do it on purpose, I didnt even know I was making him crazy
I wish I could take it all back and he leave me crazy

haha you know its weird, as i was reading this I actualy found it a bit funny. Its just how the writer says it, like how he/she made this guy go nuts over something and he has no clue why or how he/she did it! Who ever wrote this deffinantly must had some sort of guilt from driving his friend crazy, even wishing that he would be the one going crazy instead. But i dont think he should be to hard on himself, afterall well all drive people crazy once in a while, even our ownselfs sometimes.

Yesterday is now today by now! by pantor of the Oaks

Yesterday is now today!
Yesterdays' today is in the past.
Yesterdays past is today's past,
but yesterdays' tomorrow is today's' past, and its' future.

Tomorrow's' past is today's' future,
and tomorrow is today by now.
Tomorrow doesn't know yesterday,
but tomorrow's yesterday knows the future and the past.

Today is the future and the past.
Today's' future is now the past.
Today's' past is in the future,
but today's' future is tomorrow's past and future.

The futures past can be today.
The future is tomorrow and today.
The futures future is in the future,
but the future knows the past, tomorrow, today, and yesterday.

Heh, what can I say? its such an odd poem and to my oppinion a bit confusing at first glance. But yet I find ikt to be a good poem, strangly enought it seems to be giving a straight foward idea and fact about the future and past. Whenever tommarow leaves, its all in the past and yet the next day will always be the future, not the future we think about with the flying cars and that noncense, you know. So were all experiancing the Future everyday!

Autumn's Glow by Marilyn Lott

Autumn’s Glow

There is something about autumn
That brings out such earthiness
Gold leaves adorn bushes and trees
Like an artist with a brilliant brush

Once the leaves dry on the trees
Then the wind begins to blow
It’s a special time of year for me
Because I love autumn so

The cold dry air it seems
Prepare the leaves to fall
Mother Nature’s special time
Yes, it’s the best of all

What a dazzling way to end
The year as winter nears
The way leaves let loose
And dropp like nature’s tears

Oh yes, I love those golden days
Dreamy with autumn’s glow
It makes me smile because I do
Love the season of autumn so!

This Lovely poem was obviously writen by someone who loves fall. And of coars so do I! but also I love how in the first pannal of the poem. The writer is using simile to compair the pretty season of autumn to art! Well an artist's brush to be exact,"Gold leaves adorn bushes and trees Like an artist with a brilliant brush" still, you get the point. You see Iam an artist myself, and I always loved Fall because of its beutiful colors. So yeah its relatable, but its also so very true.

Solitude by Rebecca Parker

Solitude

Sitting in my room alone
Wrapped warmly in a quilt
Cold wind blowing outside my window
Feeling not a pang of guilt
For needing solitude

There is a certain feel of comfort
With a loved one so close by
But that feeling is not near enough
When unable to see eye to eye
And needing solitude

Our dreams were quickly shattered
Hopes of a future are no more
Time we spent mere memories
Grieving felt to the very core
And needing solitude

Solitude for peace of mind
Time alone to heal
We lost so much in so little time
But our friendship remains strong & real
Now & in our solitude.

While looking through the list of ever ending poems, I notice and found this one poking around in the 'Solitude' section and I just couldnt help my self but to cheack it out. As I was reading the poem I have to say thiat I liked it alot. Now it was int just because I could relate to it, which I can. But it was also because its a good poem that expains realy clearly how some alone time can be for a person whenever they get in a fight with there friend. And even when that person is alone they still have some friendship with other people aswell.

My Dear Dream by Janet Kavitha

My dear dream

Dream of sea,
Dream of ships,
Dream of huge ocean,
Dream of men in unifom

Its my dream, dream so different,
Dream so new, dream of dark sky up above,
Dream of sea so calm, dream of sea roaring,
Its my sweet dream.

Dream of men in white, in white applet,
Dream of be one with them,
Dream so sweet, wonderfull, specail, close to my heart,
Its my sweet dream.

Dreaming to get my dreams happen.
Its my sweet dream.

I loved this poem a lot! daydreaming of the beach and Sea is one of my favorite pastimes. In fact when ever I have alot of school work and junk, I always think about summer and the joys of being down the shore. So, yeah I can relate to this poem in that scence.

Homework by Sylvia Chidi

All this talk, talk, talk
Teachers are assigning me homework
All I want, is to rock, rock, and rock
This homework is a stumbling block

They all say it is the only way
To sharpen my brain
What a drain!
Keep me thoughtful and creative
Encourage me to be innovative
Keep me occupied with some positive motive

Yeah right
I can see some light
The idea is bright

All this talk, talk, talk
I am just doing my homework
As I listen to the clock
Singing out tick, tock, tick, tock
Do not mock, just do your homework

I find this poem something I, if not anyone, can relate to when it comes to school work. I love how the writer puts it together, I also find it realy funny too, afterall Homework is the biggest pain in the ass for all students alike. It was also short and simple and got right to the point. And so thats what I say!
